CARACTERISTICS

This frondose tree’s habitat is in the Amazon, but it is also present in forests in Paraná, from the east to northern Brazil.

As an adult, it can reach 40 meters in height and its seeds are consumed by several birds and animals in the forests.
There are 34 species in the world, 16 of those being found in Brazil.
The oil is extracted from the trunk of the trees by a hole that reaches the vein. The Copaiba tree also provides excellent wood.

MEDICINAL USE
Oil from the copaiba has been used for centuries by Indians as a healing medicine for external wounds, insect repellent and anti-inflammatory.
It is a powerful antimicrobial, diuretic, expectorant and antiblennorrhagic.
Very rich in beta-cariofileno, this substance has been scientifically proved to be an anti-inflammatory and a protector of gastric mucus.
